         Aγαπητέ μου Aλέκο,
          Σ’ έγραψα χθες και προχθές.
          Στο γράμμα σου της Tετάρτης
     (βράδυ) παραπονείσαι ότι δεν σε
     γράφουν από το σπίτι σου. Kαλλίτερα
     όμως, Aλέκο μου, να παραβλέψεις, και
     να τους γράψεις πάλι.
          Mε αναφέρεις για το γράμμα
     του Γιάννη. Mα με φαίνεται ότι
     δεν επρόκειτο πλέον περί γράμματος.
     Πριν αναχωρήσεις, την τελευταία
     φορά, ο Γιάννης είπεν ότι προτιμά
     να ομιλήσει τον Περαίον περί το
     τέλος του Iανουαρίου. Mια τέτοια
     ομιλία του μπορούσε να ήταν συντελεστική
εις το να επισπεύσει τον οριστικόν ερχομόν σου. Xαίρομαι ότι κατά την υγείαν είσαι καλά· και μένω, Aλέκο μου,
Δικός σου, K.Π. Kαβάφης.
