In order to facilitate searches within the repository environment, access points were created so that, by choosing certain terms, the user is able to identify the items containing those terms. This set of terms (keywords) has been grouped into categories based on the given collection (archive / library). The collections of the archive contain the following categories: persons (proper names), corporate bodies (scientific bodies, corporations, civil services etc.), families, places, and subjects. More specifically, the subjects which arise from the archival treatment of the materials, are further divided into individual categories in line with the genre of the items it contains (letters, records, certificates etc.), while those related to the literary documentation of the archive are divided into: Works by C. P. Cavafy, Literary and other characters (Historical, Literary, Invented, and Mythological characters), Works by other authors, Journals, Newspapers, and Works by C. P. Cavafy in translation. As regards the Cavafy Library, the access points refer to the following categories: persons (proper names), corporate bodies (publishing houses, printing offices, newspapers, journals, bookstores etc.), Works by C. P. Cavafy, place of publication, format, motto, reading traces, insert, subject, and related topics. The printed items are classified in sixteen subjects based on their format/topic (i.e. Greek / Foreign literature), whereas the related topics (Cavafy Library) connect the printed items of the collection with more specialized genres (i.e. poetry, prose etc.).
The visitor of the digital collection can simultaneously search for terms that appear both in the Cavafy Archive and in the Cavafy Library or focus solely on the access points of each collection separately. The keywords with the symbol are connected both with the archive and with the library.
