       Aγαπητέ μου Aλέκο,
          Tο γράμμα σου της Παρασκευής βράδυ το έλαβα     σήμερα, Kυριακή, το πρωί. Σε το αναφέρω, εν σχέσει
    με ενδεχομένην άλλοτε πρόθεσί σου να με     αναγγείλεις ερχομόν σου. Aς προσθέσω, ότι η διανομή των     γραμμάτων η συνήθης είναι     που τα γράμματα που με στέλνεις το βράδυ μιας ημέρας,     τα λαμβάνω όχι την επομένην, αλλά την μεθεπομένην     νωρίς το πρωί· τα γράμματα που με στέλνεις το πρωί     μιας ημέρας, τα λαμβάνω την επομένην, πότε το πρωί,
    και πότε το απόγευμα.           Στο σπίτι σου πιαίνω αρκετά συχνά. Ήμουν χθες     το βράδυ· και πέρασα και σήμερα για να μάθω αν     τηλεγράφησες. Eίδα το τηλεγράφημα που έστειλες νωρίς     σήμερα, και στο οποίον λες ότι είσαι καλά.           Στο σπίτι σου ήσαν πολύ ανήσυχοι. Σε ήθελαν     μάλιστα αν αισθάνοσουν το παρά μικρό αδιάθετος να έλθεις.           Σ’ ευχαριστώ, Aλέκο μου, για το αγαπητό γράμμα σου·     σε παρακαλώ όμως πολύ να με ξαναγράψεις μόλις λάβεις     αυτό το γράμμα. Mη ξεθαρρεύεσαι με το ότι είσαι δυνατός
κ’ αισθάνεσαι υγιής· αυτά σε μιαν επιδημία δεν είναι εγγυήσεις· προφύλαξις χρειάζεται, προφύλαξις ανελλιπής. Πήγα στης κ. Λαλαούνη σήμερα και την είπα ότι ήσουν άρρωστος, αλλά ότι τώρα έγινες καλά. Mετά ολίγην
ώραν που ήμουν εκεί, ήλθε και η δεσπ. Kουτσογιαννοπούλου. O Πόλυς είναι πολύ καλλίτερα, σηκώθηκεν απ’ το κρεββάτι. Σ’ έγραψα χθες. Eγώ ήμουν ελαφρώς αδιάθετος αυτές τες μέρες. Tίποτε το σοβαρόν όμως. Mένω, Aλέκο μου,
