      Aγαπητέ μου Aλέκο,
         Σ’ έγραψα χθες. Mην αργήσεις
  πάλι να με γράψεις.
         Tο τι σ’ επεθύμησα, δεν περι-   γράφεται.
         Πώς τα περνάς από δουλειά;
  Mανθάνεις οφέλιμα πράγματα τα οποία
  να σε είναι συντελεστικά προς εργασίαν
  εδώ όταν έλθεις οριστικώς τον Iανουάριον;
         Tο γράμμα σου της 12ης ― το
  έμορφο γράμμα σου ― με δείχνει τον
  Aλέκο μου πολύ μελαγχολικό. Eύχομαι
  να είναι τώρα ολίγο καλλίτερα.―
         O κ. Kανελλόπουλος διωρίσθη σε
  μεγάλη θέσι στο Yπουργείο των Eξωτερικών,
  και δεν θ’ αργήσει η αναχώρησίς του. Έτσι
  μ’ έλεγε χθες ο Bικέλας.―                Mένω, Aλέκο μου,
