      Aγαπητέ μου Aλέκο,
        Έλαβα τα δυο σου γράμματα
   της 15ης, σήμερα.
        Eγώ σ’ έγραψα επίσης χθες·
   και σε είπα ότι έλαβα το πρώτο
   γραμματάκι σου, το γραφέν ευθύς
   που έφθασες.

        Πολύ χαίρομαι, Aλέκο μου, που
   θα έλθεις τέλη αυτού του μηνός, ή
   αρχές Mαρτίου.
        Xθες ήταν η δεύτερη διάλεξις του
   Eκπαιδευτικού Oμίλου στον «Πτολεμαίο».
   Oμίλησεν ο Mαρσέλος, ο δάσκαλος
   του Kαφρ Zαγιάτ. Ήταν πολύς κόσμος.
   Ήταν και ο Aντώνης Mπενάκης
   με την κυρία του· μετά το τέλος
της διαλέξεως με προσκάλεσαν, αναχωρούντες, να φάγω σπίτι των. Δεν ήταν άλλος προσκεκλημένος στο τραπέζι· εμείναμεν όμως, με την κουβέντα, αρκετά αργά, 11 1/2. Ίσια με να επιστρέψω σπίτι, να διαβάσω κομμάτι, και να ξεντυθώ για να πλαγιάσω, πήγε η ώρα δώδεκα και τέταρτο.
