Αγαπητέ μου Κωστή,
Σ’ ευχαριστώ διά το γράμμα σου
31 Δεκ./1 Ιαν. All my best wishes, μικρέ
μου: ναι, αλήθεια, νάναι καλλίτερος για
μας αυτός ο χρόνος.― Mε την περισσοτέρα
δουλειά ημέλησα τελευταίως, και θ’ αναγ-
κασθώ ν’ αμελήσω for some time yet,
τας μεταφράσεις, ―but I do not abandon
the cherished project. Στείλε με, εάν
σ’ είναι εύκολο, τα Παναθήναια ―that I
may enjoy the «Tρώες» in print.
Mας κάμνει σκυλίτικο κρύο. Το δικό μου -
το κρύο είναι πολύ καλλίτερα.
Ελπίζω συ, Κωστή μου, να είσαι καλά,
