CONTENT AND STRUCTURE AREA
Cavafy’s poetry collection containing 46 poems of the 1919-1926 period, without front cover or table of contents. It consists of printed broadsheets, the first of which (“But Wise Men Apprehend What Is Imminent”) is not numbered. The numbering of the rest of the sheets starts at 16 and is sequential through to 60; in some instances it has been corrected in ink by the poet. Handwritten emendation in one of the poems (“Demaratus”, 55β΄) and cancellations in some of the printed dates (No 47, 50-52). The broadsheets were printed at the Kasimatis & Ionas printing house during the 1919-1926 period. Some of the broadsheets also mention the month of printing (June, July, September, December 1919; June, August, October, December 1920; March, June, September, December 1921; February 1922). The verso of all broadsheets is blank.
