Cavafy’s poetry collection containing 54 poems of the 1910-1918 period. A piece of paperboard folded in half is used as front and back covers. On the cover, the printed title: “C. P. Cavafy Poems. Alexandria 1910-1918”. The original date indication “1917” has been corrected by hand to “1918”, in ink. On the inside, printed title page repeating the details on the cover. The end date was originally printed “1916” and corrected twice by hand to “1917” and “1918”. A blank sheet follows and then printed broadsheets containing the poems, numbered at top right of the recto. The numbering is mostly printed, in a few instances handwritten, and in some it has been corrected by hand. The verso of all broadsheets is blank. The poems are followed by a blank sheet and a printed table of contents in chronological order, in two columns. The contents page is part of the sheet also containing the title page. The 1916 titles are handwritten by Cavafy, except for the first one. The 1917 poem titles are also handwritten as well as those of 1918, which are written on the verso of the contents page. The broadsheets were printed at the Kasimatis & Ionas printing house in the period 1914-1918. Two of them, “Far Off” (No 23) and “One Night” (No 28), also bear a first print indication (1914 and 1915, respectively).
