One of them bears handwritten emendations and changes made by the poet, which have been incorporated in the other typewritten copies, and mentions G. Valassopoulo as translator. Another typewritten copy mentions, below the text, G. Valassopoulo and “Ε.M.F.” (obviously E. M. Forster) as translators. Another typewritten copy mentions: “Translated by V. F. C.” (the words, except for the first one, have been handwritten by Cavafy). They are most likely the initials of Valassopoulo, Forster and Cavafy. Clipping from a printed broadsheet with the handwritten date 1926, which contains on one side the translation of two verses of the poem and is also handwritten by Cavafy.
