The sender refers to the publication of the French translations of fourteen of Cavafy’s poems by Yourcenar and Dimaras in a French journal; he considers the translations poor and unworthy of the poet. Consequently, he forbids Yourcenar to publish any further translations of Cavafy’s works. He informs Dimaras that a French publication of the poems is being prepared; G. Papoutsakis has translated the poems. Singopoulo also refers to the re-publication of Cavafy’s poems by an Athenian publishing house this time, and asks for Dimaras’ advice on the subject.
