Georgios I. Cavafy (1806-1891) was the poet’s uncle. He and his brother, Peter John Cavafy, founded the Cavafy trading house. He moved to Britain 1827 and set up business there. He married Maria Thoma in 1834 and had a son, the physician Ioannis (John) G. Cavafy. He died in London (England).
