Aristeidis Cavafy (1853-1902) was C. P. Cavafy’s brother and the third child of the family. He was a British citizen and spent his youth in England. He worked at the Stock Exchange of Alexandria as well as at the Laurens tobacco company. He was also involved in cotton crops. He was a pianist and an amateur painter and had an adequate knowledge of gemology. He was married to Maria Vourou and had a daughter, Charikleia (subsequently Valieri).
