Alexandros Cavafy (1856-1905), the poet’s brother, was the fifth child of the family. He worked at the Thomas Cook & Son company in Port Said and in Alexandria (Egypt). He was married to Thelxiopi Theodorou, with whom he had a daughter, Eleni Angeliki Loukia. He took ill with typhoid fever, while he was with his family in Athens (Greece), where he died and was buried.
